Texas-based company comes in with $6.2 million bid for property
Texas-based home building company, D.R. Horton put itself ahead of the pack on Tuesday with a bid of $6.2 million for the Claremont Unified School District’s 4.35 acres located at 2080 N. Mountain Ave.
D.R. Horton beat out Shea Homes’ offer of $6,100,500. The minimum bid the district would accept was $5.8 million.
Founded in 1978, D.R. Horton has operations in 25 states and, in addition to homebuilding, provides mortgage financing and title services for homebuyers. According to its website, it is the largest homebuilder in the nation with 17,716 homes closed within a 12-month period that ended on December 31, 2011.
The CUSD board will vote at Thursday night’s meeting to either approve or deny D.R. Horton’s offer. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m.
