Soul Connections event to be held on Sunday
On Sunday, October 17, the local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Pomona and the Unity Church of Pomona will host a presentation via Zoom regarding “the history of law enforcement and racial justice.”
The Zoom will feature now-retired law enforcement officer Bob Henderson, who spent 26 years on the force. Henderson “candidly shares how and why our current criminal justice system creates disparities for people of color and how the spiritual principle of the oneness of humanity can transform society to achieve racial justice,” an email describing the event read. The presentation will also feature an artistic presentation from artist, author and musician Joycelyn Jolly.
The Zoom event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., coinciding with the church’s Soul Connections group meeting. The group met in person every third Sunday prior to the pandemic, and continued to do so via Zoom. “Soul Connections is a creative space with music and art for everyone to come together and create meaningful change,” the email from Pomona College’s Nancy Scott continued.
