On Friday, July 8, Claremont Presbyterian Church, 1111 N. Mountain Ave., will host a blood and power red drive from noon to 6 p.m. Power red transfusions, transfusion of a “concentrated dose of red cells [which] … can be used every day for those needing transfusions as part of their care,” take about an hour. On Monday, July 11, July 18, and July 25, Claremont St. Luke’s Church, 2050 N. Indian Hill Blvd., will hold blood and power red drives between 1 and 7 p.m. Contact the church at (909) 624-8898 for details.

On Friday, July 22, Pomona Valley Health Centers in Claremont, 1601 Monte Vista Ave., will hold a blood and power red drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For details, contact the health centers at (909) 630-7938.

Those who donate in July will be entered for a chance to win a shark week merchandise package, courtesy of Discovery. In addition, donors who give between July 21 and 24 will receive, while supplies last, a limited-edition shark week and red cross “o-fish-al” T-shirt.
