Residential reminders: election season, city’s fall brochure is out
Election season is upon us
On November 8, Claremont residents will go to the polls and vote on ballot measures and elections, including three city council races. The last day to register to vote for this election is October 24.
The COURIER will profile all candidates for city council, Claremont Unified School District Board of Education, and Three Valleys Municipal Water District ahead of the November 8 election. Voters will also decide the fate of Measure CT, which, if passed, will “establish a tax on businesses which sell, distribute, manufacture, and cultivate cannabis, including industrial hemp and hemp products in the City of Claremont.” More information is available at ci.claremont.ca.us.
Registration is easy. Residents can register to vote at registertovote.ca.gov, by selecting “register to vote now.”
First time registries will answer questions about their U.S. and California residency, age, legal name, date of birth and political party preference. A driver’s license number or the last four digits of your social security are also required. Folks can also request to receive mail-in ballots and information ahead of each election.
To check your voter status, visit voterstatus.sos.ca.gov. If you do not have a driver’s license or social security number, contact the California Secretary of State at (800) 345-8683 or via email to elections@sos.ca.gov.
Los Angeles County residents wanting more info on upcoming elections and voting registration can contact the county clerk’s office, located at 12400 Imperial Hwy., Norwalk, CA 90650 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.; call (800) 815-2666; or email voterinfo@rrcc.lacounty.gov.
