Citrus College board installs trustees, elects new president

After filling roles on a provisional basis, Anthony Contreras and Cheryl Alexander were recently sworn in as members of the Citrus Community College District Board of Trustees.

Contreras was sworn in January 17, Alexander on December 14, 2022.

Contreras was appointed to represent Trustee Area 1 following the resignation of Barbara R. Dickerson in September 2020 and has provisionally served Azusa and portions of Duarte since October 2020.

Following the 2021 death of longtime trustee Edward C. Ortell, Alexander was appointed by the board to complete the remainder of his four‐year term. Voters then elected Alexander in November 2022 to continue representing Trustee Area 3, which includes Duarte and portions of Azusa, Monrovia, Arcadia, Covina, and Irwindale.

Both Contreras and Alexander will serve through December 2026.

The board’s December meeting also saw trustees elected to the following positions: Laura J. Bollinger, board president; Contreras, vice president; and Patricia A. Rasmussen, board clerk/secretary. Terms run from December 15, 2022 through December 14, 2023.
