Obituary: Linda McAdoo Ware
Proud Emma Willard School graduate, avid reader, accomplished cook
Linda McAdoo Ware died at age 75 on January 30. She was a resident of Claremont for more than 50 years and attended Pomona College after graduating from her beloved Emma Willard School in Troy, New York.
Linda touched many lives in her long career as an award-winning graphic artist for the Claremont Courier, Hooker Headers, and her own firm, Ware and Associates Graphics.
She was predeceased by her father Don P. McAdoo; mother, Virginia M. Martin; stepfather, Jim Martin; and brother, Bob McAdoo (Nancy).
She is survived by her brother David McAdoo (Denise); brother, Scott McAdoo (Carolyn); stepbrothers Jim Martin Jr., Jeff Martin (Elizabeth), and Randy Martin (Christy); stepsister Christine Martin; and her former husband, John A. Ware. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Dave McAdoo, Aislinn Palmer, Elizabeth (Mac) McAdoo, Erin Drelich, Meaghan Edwards, Meredith Edwards, Parker McAdoo, Andrew McAdoo, Lindsey McAdoo, and aunt Sandy McCullough McAdoo.
“Linda was an avid reader, an accomplished cook, and was skilled at completing the New York Times crossword with blazing speed – in ink!” her family shared. “Linda will be remembered for her keen wit, intellect, and dedication to her family and friends.
“Linda will be greatly missed by her family and many lifelong friends in Claremont (especially by the “usual suspects”).”
All who knew her knew she was an Emma Willard alumna and she proudly remembered and shared her many accolades, adventures, and especially her lifelong love of her former classmates.
“Linda embodied Emma Willard’s vision and lived her life as a woman who loved learning, celebrated character and strength, and thrived on cultured conversation,” her family added. “She was richer throughout her life for this experience.”
