Fourth of July events and fireworks displays will take place in Claremont, La Verne, Pomona, Rancho Cucamonga, and Upland.

Claremont
The City of Claremont will commemorate the Fourth of July with a festival, parade, and fireworks show held on Independence Day Tuesday, July 4, at Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd. This year’s theme, “Happy and Free in 2023,” was submitted by Vincent Vuong, a fourth grade student at Condit Elementary School.

Celebrations kick off with the Kiwanis Club of Claremont pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. At 9, a flag raising ceremony and presentations of the grand marshal, honored citizen, and honored community group will take place. A festival will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Memorial Park with food, nonprofit information booths, and children’s activities.

The T. Willard Hunter Speakers Corner opens at 11 a.m.

The day will end with a concert and barbeque dinner by the Kiwanis Club of Claremont, followed by fireworks at Pomona College’s Strehle Track, 522 N. Mills Ave., Claremont. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for the dinner and concert with Upstream, who will perform from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. Fireworks by Pyrospectaculars are set for 9.

The Independence Day festivities will be preceded by the Claremont Village Freedom 5000 Run/Walk on Saturday, July 1 at Memorial Park. Race day will begin with the 1K kids fun run for ages 12 and under at 7:30 a.m., followed at 8 by the 5K competitive race. Walkers will be allowed on the course shortly after the gates clear. La Verne
The City of La Verne begins its celebration Tuesday, July 4, with a 6:30 a.m. pancake breakfast at La Verne Methodist Church, 3205 D St., sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 411. Each $7 platter includes three pancakes and three sausages. Parking is across the street at Bonita High School.

A pre-parade Harley ride begins at 9:40 a.m. followed by the parade, themed “honoring our past, protecting our future,” at 10, starting at the corner of 10th and D streets. Street closures begin at 9:30 a.m. July 4 but spectators can place items to reserve areas up to 24 hours in advance. More info is at cityoflaverne.org.

Midday family activities include free swimming from noon to 4 p.m. at La Verne Aquatics Center, 3175 Bolling Ave. The skate park at 3102 D St. will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Pomona
Doors open at 4 p.m. for Kaboom!, Fairplex’s annual Fourth of July celebration Tuesday, July 4 at 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona. The event includes monster trucks, motocross, live entertainment and fireworks at 9 p.m.

Advance tickets are $25, or $35 day of show. Children under 2 are free but must sit on a paying guest’s lap during the show. Parking is $17. Get tickets online at etix.com. Admission, parking, and alcohol sales are by credit or debit card only. Some food stands may accept cash. Ride share service drop-off and pick-up is available at Gate 1 near McKinley Ave.

Rancho Cucamonga
Rancho Cucamonga’s 2023 Fourth of July fireworks spectacular will be held at LoanMart Field, 8408 Rochester Ave., Tuesday, July 4. The stadium and concessions open at 6 p.m. but attendees can begin parking at 5:30. Be prepared to show the attendant your tickets with barcode upon arrival. Purchases at the stadium can only be made with debit or credit cards.

Activities and live entertainment begin at 6:30 p.m. The firework show is set for 9.

Upland
Upland’s annual Light Up The Night Fireworks Spectacular at Cable Airport, 1749 W. 13th St., takes place Tuesday, July 4, with live music from Pop Vision, food and merchandise vendors, a beer garden, an airplane display at 4:30 p.m., a kids’ zone, and fireworks.

Off-site parking at Walmart, 1540 W. Foothill Blvd., and Lowes (also a rideshare service drop off location), 1659 W. Foothill Blvd., opens at 3:30 p.m., with event gates open at 4. Games and contests begin at 5:30 p.m. and live entertainment will start an hour later. The fireworks show begins about 9 p.m.

Pre-sale tickets are $10 at Magnolia Recreation Center, 651 W. 15th St.; Gibson Senior Center, 250 N. Third Ave.; and Upland City Hall, 460 N. Euclid Ave. Day of show tickets are $15 and are only available at Magnolia Recreation Center. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Limited onsite accessible parking is available but only with pre-registration. Benson Avenue will be closed from Foothill to 16th Street. Call (909) 981-4501 for more info.

Free shuttles will take spectators to and from the event site from Upland High School, 565 W. 11th St., from 4 to 10:30 p.m., with the last shuttle departing at 8.
