Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority will highlight the installation of light rail tracks for the new 9.1-mile, four-station light rail project connecting Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, and Pomona at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24.

The free and open to the public ceremony will take place at the D Street railroad crossing at the intersection of Arrow Highway and D St. in La Verne. Event parking will be at 2021 D St.

During the event, the last of 230,630 rail clips will be driven into place and a commemorative boulder embedded in the sidewalk will be unveiled. It will also include presentations by local, county, state, federal, and construction authority officials, with radio personality Frank Mottek serving as master of ceremonies. Information booths will be available to answer guests’ questions about the project, its construction status between Glendora and Montclair, the various creatives tasked with making art for the stations, and other inquires.

The 9.1-mile light rail segment is now 71% complete and remains on schedule to be completed by early January 2025. Once done, four new stations will be added to the Metro A Line system in Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, and Pomona. Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority is seeking additional funding to continue the project into Claremont and Montclair.

The Foothill Gold Line is funded mainly by Measure M, residual funds from Measure R not used to complete the Pasadena to Azusa segment and grant funds from the state’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Grant. Visit foothillgoldline.org for more details.
