Claremont Little League all-star roundup

Here’s a recap of recent Claremont Little League all-star play. Bracket information for each division is at claremontlittleleague.org.

 

CLL 8U (0-1)
Claremont 8U opened play June 24 with a 10-3 loss to Glendora American at Sandburg Middle School, in Glendora. The under eights were back in action after press time Thursday against San Dimas.

A win Thursday would keep the team alive, with a 1 p.m. Saturday, July 1 game. A loss sends them home for the summer.

 

CLL 9U (2-1)
The under nines fell to San Dimas, 12-9, June 24 at Marchant Park in San Dimas. The team bounced back to beat Glendora National Wednesday, 12-8. The result sets up a Claremont-San Dimas rematch at 10 a.m. Saturday.

 

CLL 10U (3-1)
Glendora American snapped Claremont’s two-game winning streak, 7-4, June 24 at College Park in Claremont. The team squeaked by Glendora National, 8-7, on Tuesday earning the right to play for the 10U California Little League District 20 title.

Claremont battled Glendora American after press time Thursday. A loss would hand the title to Glendora, a win would mean the deciding game will be played at 6 p.m. Friday.

 

CLL 11U (2-0)
The 11-and-unders beat San Dimas by the mercy rule, 16-1, on June 22, then shutout Glendora American, 11-0, on Monday. They’ll play in the 11U California Little League District 20 title game at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Marchant Park, 425 Juanita Ave., San Dimas, vs. a TBD opponent.

 

CLL 12U (1-0)
Claremont trounced San Dimas by the mercy rule, 10-0, Monday at Pelota Park, in La Verne. The team is back in action at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 1, against either Glendora National or La Verne.

A win Saturday punches the team’s ticket to the 12U California Little League District 20 title game on Friday, July 7. A loss sees them battle TBD opposition at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 5.

 

CLL Juniors (2-1)
Claremont bounced back after dropping game one of its best-of-three series against La Verne, 6-4, on June 20, out-slugging La Verne, 14-6, on June 22. They then won again, 7-4, on June 24 to be crowned California Little League District 20 champions.

The Juniors will compete in the Section 3 tournament at Griffith Park, 1800 Woodbend Ave., Claremont, starting July 8. Brackets are at cadistrict19.org.
