Monday, August 7
At 4:27 a.m. an unknown suspect used some type of tool to shatter the front window at Refinery Salon, 969 W. Foothill Blvd. The suspect then entered the store and stole approximately $1,000 worth of property before leaving the scene undetected. The crime was captured on surveillance video and the alleged burglar is described as a male, unknown race, wearing dark clothing. The investigation is ongoing but anyone with information is asked to call the Claremont Police Department at (909) 299-5411.

Thursday, August 10
Officers on patrol at 8:31 p.m. came into contact with Abbass Matin, 44, of Fontana near the Peppertree Square in the 300 block of S. Indian Hill Boulevard. Matin identified himself and a records check revealed he had four warrants for his arrest. During a search, officers said they found a controlled substance and paraphernalia. Martin was arrested for the warrants, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. He was transported to Claremont jail, booked, and later released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.

At 8:37 p.m. police responded to All American Mini Storage, 711 S. Mills Ave., for a burglary investigation. Police said multiple storage units had been broken into over an unknown period of time with an estimated $2,000 worth of property loss. Officers reviewed surveillance video and were able to identify several leads. The investigation is ongoing.

Friday, August 11
At 1:36 a.m. officers on patrol near Indian Hill Boulevard and the 10 Freeway pulled over Chino Hills resident Michael High, 37, for an equipment violation. After questioning High police learned he did not have a license and a search of his car allegedly produced narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia. High was arrested for misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and the narcotic charges, and his car was impounded. He was taken to the Claremont jail where he was booked and later released with a citation to appear in court.

A resident in the 400 block of Guilford Avenue called police at 7:53 a.m. to report a man throwing rocks at windows. When officers arrived they were able to locate the suspect, Claremont resident Jonathan Medrano, 37, still in the area. The victim identified Medrano as the rock thrower and stated intent to press charges. Medrano was arrested for misdemeanor vandalism and transported to the jail where he was booked and later released with a citation.

Saturday, August 12
Officers responded to the area of Mt. Baldy Road and Padua Avenue after a passerby reported seeing the driver of a car hit his passenger, who allegedly said, “Please stop.” Responding officers located the vehicle and pulled over a 25-year-old Glendora man. Police said the driver also displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. Officers conducted a series of field sobriety tests they say showed the driver was DUI. Further investigation revealed the passenger had sustained a visible injury during an altercation. The suspect was arrested for felony domestic violence and misdemeanor DUI. He was transported to the CPD jail where he was booked and provided a chemical sample. Due to a preexisting medical condition, he was transported the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles where he was held for court.

Sunday, August 13
A person tried to use the elevator at the parking structure in the 400 block W. First Street but when the door opened a man was inside holding his erect penis. The victim immediately reported the incident to police, and Steve Hardy, 31, a transient, was located and detained. Hardy has been arrested for the same charge twice in the past four weeks and has been contacted regarding similar circumstances numerous times in the last several weeks. The victim wanted to press charges and the suspect was arrested for misdemeanor indecent exposure. Hardy was transported to the CPD Jail where he was booked and held for court.
