Claremont High School
Football (0-2)
Visitors Troy thrashed Claremont, 43-0, at home on August 25. The team hopes to snap its two-game losing streak Friday at Los Osos. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
CHS is then at Henry J. Kaiser High School in Fontana on Friday, September 8 for a 7 p.m. contest.
Boys and girls cross-country
Both teams open the season at the ASICS Cool Breeze Invitational, 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fairplex in Pomona. They are at Ayala for a 9 a.m. preseason meet on Friday, September 8.
Girls tennis
Foothill paid a visit after press time Thursday. Great Oak will stop by for a 3:15 p.m. game Wednesday, September 6.
Girls volleyball (4-3)
After being handed a 3-1 loss at Rancho Cucamonga August 25, the Wolfpack bounced back with two 3-0 shutout victories over Don Lugo Tuesday and Los Osos Wednesday.
Claremont hosted San Dimas after press time Thursday and will begin Palomares League play at Alta Loma at 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 6.
Girls golf (2-0)
The Pack beat Chino Hills 205-220 on August 24, then welcomed them to Marshall Canyon Golf Course Monday and won again, 260-275.
Claremont hosted Rancho Cucamonga after press time Thursday. Bonita comes to Claremont Wednesday, September 6 for an 8 a.m. match, followed by Los Osos at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 7.
Boys water polo
Claremont is at Alta Loma at 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 27.
The Webb Schools
Football (1-0)
Webb blew out Workman, 64-0, at home August 26, then traveled to La Puente after press time Thursday. The team is back home Saturday, September 16 against Nuview Bridge at 1 p.m.
Boys and girls cross-country
The Gauls are at the Fairplex in Pomona Saturday for the 2 p.m. ASICS Cool Breeze Invitational. A San Joaquin league cluster is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 12 at Webb.
Girls tennis (1-0)
Webb’s August 25 season opener at Edgewood was scrapped. The team began the season at Capistrano Valley Christian Tuesday with a convincing 16-2 San Joaquin League win, then played Pacifica Christian after press time Thursday.
Northview drop by Webb at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 5.
Girls volleyball (4-4)
Orangewood Academy handed the team a 3-2 home loss on August 24.
Results from the August 26 Sierra Vista Tournament: Webb began with two 2-0 wins over Covina and Sierra Vista, followed by a close 2-1 victory against Montebello. The Gauls then faced Gabrielino and lost 2-0 to cap the group stage, then bested Mountain View, 1-0, in a knockout round matchup before losing to Gabrielino again, this time 1-0, to place third overall.
San Joaquin League action started Tuesday with a 3-0 home loss versus Tarbut V’ Torah and continued after press time Thursday at Capistrano Valley Christian. Next up is Pacifica Christian at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 5.
Girls golf
Webb was at Newport Beach Golf Course after press time Thursday for a nonleague contest with Pacifica Christian. The team is then at River View Golf Course Tuesday, September 5 for a 3:30 p.m. Academy League match with Samueli Academy.
Boys water polo (1-0)
The Gauls beat Mark Keppel, 16-5, at home August 25. Tuesday’s match with Chaffey was rescheduled. Webb faced Notre Dame Riverside after press Thursday to begin the Corona Invite at Hillcrest High School.
