It was clear from the very beginning the annual 2023 Children’s Foundation of America Charity Golf Classic was going to be a hoot and all for a good cause. Over 86 golf participants descended on the Glendora Country Club on Monday, October 23 for a day of golfing, giving and maybe winning some cool prizes. Top on the list was winning $30,000 towards the purchase of a new car. And if that wasn’t enough, winning the helicopter golf drop won another $10,000. For the tournament, golfers were divided into groups of four, where the best shot by a team member would be played by the entire group. That made it easier for many low scores, some nearing 20 under par.

The tournament is CFA’s largest annual fundraiser supporting initiatives like scholarships, grants, programs for children in foster care, mental health programs, underserved school districts and more. It was a lucky day for CFA’s Chairman of the Board John Neiuber, who was the winner of the $10,000 helicopter golf ball drop. Neiuber immediately donated the entire amount back to the charity.

There’s nothing like taking a helicopter ride to pick up a bucket of golf balls where one would be worth $10,000 to a lucky donor.
