PVHMC earns top safety award

Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center was recently awarded an “A” hospital safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.

“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center made a true commitment to put patients first,” wrote Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, in a statement. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”

Leapfrog assigns “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grades to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm, read the news release. Leapfrog’s peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public HSG is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally.

“We are proud of our Associates, who include doctors, nurses and staff, for their commitment to providing the safest and highest quality of patient care to the communities serve,” wrote PVHMC President and CEO Richard E. Yochum, Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. “Hundreds of thousands of patients put their trust in our care and this “A” grade validates the exceptional care they receive at our hospital.”
