During its January 22 meeting the Pomona City Council passed a resolution calling for an end to the war in Gaza and Israel.

The resolution read: “A resolution of the city council of the city of Pomona California calling for a ceasefire and immediate peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis impacting Gaza and Israel.”

The council cited Pomona’s longstanding commitment to, “advocating for compassion, peace, social justice, and fostering a mutual respect and understanding for all people, regardless of religion, race or nationality,” as a reason it passed the resolution.

It also noted the many thousands of innocent civilian lives, both Israeli and Palestinian, have been lost in the now nearly four-month conflict.

The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reported the vote was 6-0 with one abstention.
