Thursday, January 25
A Claremont Police Department officer was on patrol at 1:25 a.m. when he noticed two people going through one of the dumpsters behind Super King market, 436 Auto Center Dr., which is a violation of municipal code. The officer contacted the pair and a records check on Manuel Esparza, 31, of Pomona turned up a felony no-bail warrant. He was arrested, taken to the Claremont jail, and later transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles where he was held for court.
Friday, January 26
At 8:50 p.m. police pulled over Montclair resident Mario Solis, 29, for a moving violation near Oak Park Cemetery. After Solis stopped his car, he allegedly bolted and ran into the cemetery. Police called in help from an Ontario Police Department helicopter and officers on board located Solis on the roof of a nearby home. Officers then set up a perimeter around the residence and Solis was taken into custody for felony obstructing an officer, misdemeanor resisting an officer, and driving a vehicle without a license. Solis was taken to the Claremont jail, where a records check revealed he was on post-release community supervision for burglary, which is an alternative to parole in California. A parole hold was obtained, and he was held at the Claremont jail in front of a court appearance.
Sunday, January 28
Police were called to the 400 block of Guilford Avenue at 3:49 a.m. about a man who was not supposed to be in the area but was nonetheless knocking on the home’s rear door. Arriving officers questioned Jonathan Medrano, 38, of Claremont, and a records check revealed he had an active court order barring him from being at the home. He was arrested and taken to the Claremont jail, where he was booked and held for court.
An officer was flagged down at 9:01 a.m. regarding a man who was harassing customers at Starbucks, 2213 Base Line Rd., in Sycamore Hills Plaza. The officer attempted to make contact, but the man resisted so additional units were called in for back up. Police detained Gabriel Garcia Torres, 36, of no know city, and allege he was under the influence of drugs. He was arrested on for misdemeanor resisting an officer and public intoxication, and taken to the Claremont jail where he was held for detoxification and released with a citation to appear at the Pomona Superior Court.
Police were called to the Claremont Lodge, 736 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 12:44 p.m. about a guest who was refusing to leave her room after checkout time. Officers contacted Clovis resident Izabel Mendoza, 21, who was still in the room but was being uncooperative. A records check revealed Mendoza had a misdemeanor San Bernardino County warrant and a felony warrant out of Orange County. She was arrested, booked, and later transported to the Orange County Central Jail where she was held for court.
Claremont officers responded to a home in the 400 block of Milton Court at 8:30 p.m. in response to possible domestic violence. When police arrived, they contacted a man out front whom they say had visible injuries. The man’s wife, a 51-year-old Claremont woman, had allegedly struck the man during an argument inside the couple’s home. She was arrested for felony domestic violence and transported to the CPD jail, where she was held for court.
