The Spirit Chorale of Los Angeles at CUCC February 10

Claremont United Church of Christ hosts The Spirit Chorale of Los Angeles, for a free and open to the public 4 p.m. concert Saturday, February 10, at 233 W. Harrison Ave., Claremont.

Founded and directed by Byron J. Smith, the group has been performing traditional African American spiritual music for nearly 30 years. It is made up of singers from throughout Los Angeles and “strives to keep alive the music that grew out of the slavery experience,” a news release read.

Admission is free, but donations are encouraged, with half of the proceeds supporting the National Association of Negro Musicians Inc.’s Scholarship Competition for Voice.
