Friday, March 1
- The free and open to the public war and existentialism book club meets at the Joslyn Center, 660 N. Mountain Ave., Claremont, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. the first Friday of each month. March’s book is “Ulysses” by James Joyce.

- The annual Bart Hall boat show returns to Fairplex expo halls 4, 5 and 6, at 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona, starting at noon today and 10 a.m. March 2 and 3. - Pomona College’s Benton Museum of Art, 120 W. Bonita Ave., Claremont, hosts a free 2 to 6:30 p.m. art and science colloquium centered on its installation, “Stitch Field,” featuring a gallery talk, panel discussion, collection study and salon, and a keynote talk by author and educator Giovanni Aloi. - The City of Claremont and its teen committee host a St. Patrick’s Day dance for families of special needs children and adults at Youth Activity Center, 1717 N. - The City of Rancho Cucamonga hosts free and public 9 to 10 a.m. compost workshops today and March 30 at Central Park, 11200 Base Line Rd. Register at cityofrc.us.
- In-person voting centers for California’s 2024 presidential primary election open today at Condit Elementary School, 1750 N. Mountain Ave.; El Roble Intermediate School, 665 N. Mountain Ave.; and Claremont Unified School District offices, 170 W. San Jose Ave. Granite Creek Community Church, 1580 N. Claremont Blvd., began polling last month. All centers are open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Election Day, Tuesday, March 5, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Vote-by-mail ballots can be dropped off at Alexander Hughes Community Center, 1700 Danbury Rd., and Claremont Helen Renwick Library, 208 N.
