Claremont colleges showcase artistic minds

Scripps College

A free and open to the public reception for “Double Take,”  a senior art exhibition featuring works by Sarah Teske, Ella Lehavi, Ella Skinner, Natasha Sethia, Dahlia Wang, Ruth Mueller, Nicole McDermott, Kendall Fosse, Avery White, and Izzy Kramer, will take place at The Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery, 251 E. 11th St. Claremont, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, April 26. Pomona College

Pomona College senior art majors Thalia Fourli, Ananya Goel, Bella Pettengill, and Heidi Xu exhibit their works through May 11 during “Pearl Diver,” a senior installation at Chan Gallery, 370 Columbia Ave., Claremont. A free and public  5 to 8 p.m. opening reception for “Pearl Diver” is set for Friday, April 26. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Exhibit info is at pomona.edu.

 

Harvey Mudd College

Drop by Harvey Mudd College’s Sprague Gallery, 320 E. Foothill Blvd., Claremont, to see “Making Monsters,” an exhibition of 24 Claremont Colleges students viewable through May 3. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with additional hours during events on evenings and weekends.

 

“Making Monsters” includes Harvey Mudd students Sarah An, Brandon Bonifacio, James Clinton, Kaeshav Danesh, Leilani Elkaslasy, Zeneve Jacotin, Elena Kryukova, Lauren Henson, Noah Limpert, Kenneth Mitchel, Maria Jose Najas, Jordan Stone, Emmett Stralka, John Tjaard van Loben Sels, Ethan Vazquez, Jasper Wood, and Trinity Zhang; Pomona’s Eloise Burtis and Kaliyah Keita; Pitzer student Noah Gabor; and Golda Gene Grais, Beatrice Rose Hruska, Anna Shobe, and Mikayla Spencer Stout of Scripps College. Exhibiting students have taken one of the following HMC courses during the 2023-2024 school year: Art 179S Collage, Art 179T Portrait Photography, Art 179V Generative Art, Literature 141 Monsters in Literature, or Philosophy 179F AI and Ethics.
