Friday, May 3

• Upland Chamber of Commerce’s7:30 a.m. first Friday breakfast at the Landecena Community Building, 1325 San Bernardino Rd., Upland, is $20 for members, $23 for non-members. RSVP at web.uplandchamber.org/events.

 

• “Making Monsters,” an exhibition from 24 Claremont Colleges students at Harvey Mudd College’s Sprague Gallery, 320 E. Foothill Blvd., Claremont, wraps today. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

• Claremont Helen Renwick Library hosts a free 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. book club at 208 N. Harvard Ave. This month’s books are “Foster” and “Small Things Like These” by Claire Keegan.

• Claremont Lewis Museum of Art, 200 W. First St., opens “The Great Perfection: Charles Long & Khang Bảo Nguyễn,” at noon today. Admission is free every Friday and $5 on weekends. Saturday, May 4

• Help oversee Special Olympics training at the Claremont High School track, 1601 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Claremont, Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. through June 1. Special needs athletes are also welcome. Practices are held ahead of the Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games at California State University, Long Beach, June 8 and 9.
