About 1,500 students at San Bernardino High School received new athletic shoes on May 23 courtesy of a donation by a SBHS alumni to Claremont nonprofit Shoes That Fit, which provides shoes to children throughout the nation.

“We are so grateful to this private donor for meeting this need and investing in the lives of children by providing brand new shoes, making it possible for children to attend school, participate in sports, and enjoy everything childhood has to offer,” wrote Shoes That Fit CEO and Executive Director Amy Fass in a statement.

“San Bernardino High School wants to express our deepest gratitude for this incredibly generous donation made by one of our alumni,” said SBHS Principal Anna Sosa. “Your support will not only provide much-needed footwear, but also instill a sense of dignity and confidence in some of our students who are not able to afford quality shoes. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and compassion.”
