CalBG hosts grand opening for new bird, butterfly garden
California Botanic Garden hosts a grand opening event for its new bird and butterfly garden, free with regular admission, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 22 and 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 23 at 1500 N. College Ave., Claremont. The new garden space dedicated to native plants and animal visitors replaces an area damaged by the January 2022 windstorm.
Saturday’s festivities include conversations with nature experts, bird and butterfly classes, arts and crafts activities, a 4 p.m. artist talk, and a 5 p.m. opening reception for the garden’s new “Floral Fluorescence” photography exhibit in the Sage Gallery. On Sunday, the all-female mariachi ensemble Las Colibrí play at 5 and 6:30 p.m. in the Forest Pavilion and food and drinks vendors will be onsite. Art activities will also be available.
A schedule is at calbg.org/events-programs/bird-and-butterfly-garden. Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, and $4 for children ages 3 to 12. Children under 3 are free.
