  • A free and open to the public 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. drive-thru e-waste drive takes place at Alma Hofman Park, 5201 Benito St., Montclair, today and July 28.   • Claremont Mayor Sal Medina will host a free and open to the public 10 a.m. to noon ice cream social at Blaisdell Park, 440 S. College Ave., to kick off his campaign for Claremont City Council’s District 5 seat.

 

  • West Park Senior Living, 801 Cypress Way, San Dimas, holds a free and open to the public noon to 3 p.m. classic car show and farmers market.

 

 

 

  • The La Verne Aquatics Center, 3175 Bolling Ave., will be open to the public from 4 to 7:30 p.m. for a Hawaiian-themed family swim event. Admission is $5, and guests must sign a waiver to participate. Info is at cityoflaverne.org.

 

 

  • California Botanic Garden combines Cinema Botanica with its Taste Wild food event at 1500 N. College Ave., Claremont. Doors open at 7 ahead of the 8 p.m. movie, “Song of the Sea” (2014).   • In preparation for its reopening, Economy Shop will accept donations of art, CDs, records, adult clothing, houseware, small rugs, handbags, jewelry, books and shoes Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at 325 First St., Claremont. The nonprofit thrift store is set to reopen Wednesday, August 21.

 

 

  • Sports medicine professionals will offer physicals to student athletes from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 29, August 5 and 12, at Casa Colina’s Coliseum Sports Medicine and Orthopedics Outpatient Center, 255 E.
