Pria, a 3-year-old yellow English Labrador, was added to the ranks of the Claremont Police Department earlier this month.

A support services K-9, Pria was trained to not only detect and aid those in a mental health crisis, but will also be used to aid those in victim interviews, critical incidents and crises, and help with police officer and staff mental wellness. Pria’s handler is nine year CPD veteran Corporal Chariya Chilson.

Funding for the new K-9 unit was provided by the Claremont Police Foundation.
