Tuesday, July 30

Claremont Police Department officers traveled to the Pomona Police Department, 490 W. Mission Blvd., to pick up Pomona resident Bryce Jackson, 32, who had been arrested by PPD after a records check revealed a misdemeanor Claremont warrant. Jackson was transported to CPD, where he was booked and held for court. He was released July 31 after appearing at Pomona Superior Court.

Wednesday, July 31

Police received an 8:48 p.m. report from a person in the 600 block of Lehigh Drive who said that a 31-year-old unhoused man was violating a court order. Police allege the man shattered a vehicle’s rear window at the location. When police arrived, they arrested him for violation of a court order and vandalism, both misdemeanors. A subsequent search allegedly yielded methamphetamine, which resulted in misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance being added to his charges. He was taken to CPD, booked, and held for court. He appeared at Pomona Superior Court August 2 and was sentenced to 180 days at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic.

 

Thursday, August 1

At 12:27 a.m., police stopped Pomona residents Robert Gaona, 37, and Jason Brown, 58, for equipment violations on their bicycles near the Shell gas station, 747 S. Indian Hill Blvd. A records check showed Gaona had a felony and misdemeanor warrant out of San Bernardino County and a misdemeanor warrant out of Orange County, while Brown had a misdemeanor warrant from Glendora. Both were arrested, transported to CPD, and booked. Brown was later released with a citation. Gaona was transported to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga to await a court date. He is scheduled to appear in in Department 14 of Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, August 29.

 

Friday, August 2

Police said they saw a car driving without its headlights on at 12:49 a.m. and stopped it for the equipment violation near First Street and Yale Avenue. A records check of the vehicle’s passenger, Brittany Aragon, 34, of Pomona, revealed a misdemeanor warrant from San Bernardino County. She was arrested, transported to CPD, booked, and later released with a citation.

At 9:55 p.m., CPD officers recognized a 33-year-old unhoused man from previous encounters and questioned him near Claremont Helen Renwick Library, 208 N. Harvard Ave. A records check revealed a felony no-bail warrant from Los Angeles. Police arrested him and took him to CPD for booking, where he was held for court. He appeared at Pomona Superior Court on August 5 and was released the following day. He is due back in court on August 26 at North Valley Superior Court, in San Fernando.

 

Saturday, August 3

Police questioned a 37-year-old unhoused man at 4:35 a.m. at Shelton Park, at Harvard and Bonita avenues. A records check revealed a misdemeanor warrant out of Pomona, and he was arrested, booked at CPD, and released with a citation.

Police stopped Steve Vargas Garcia, 28, of Pomona, who was walking through a parking lot at 9:29 p.m. near the Greyhound bus station, 888 S. Indian Hill Blvd. A subsequent search allegedly turned up a meth pipe, and he was arrested for misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia. A records check showed a misdemeanor warrant from Pomona. He was then transported to CPD and booked before being released with a citation.

Police stopped a 21-year-old unhoused woman they recognized from previous encounters who was riding a bicycle at 10:40 p.m. near Indian Hill Boulevard and San Bernardino Road in Pomona for an equipment violation. A records check revealed two misdemeanor Claremont warrants and a misdemeanor San Bernardino County warrant. She was arrested, booked at CPD, and later released with citations.

 

Sunday, August 4

CPD began tailing a car they said nearly hit a median and eventually pulled it over for equipment and moving violations near Monte Vista Avenue and Shenandoah Drive at 3:05 a.m. Police questioned Lashawn Clovin, 49, of Victorville, and say he displayed signs of intoxication. After field sobriety tests, he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. A records check also revealed a misdemeanor warrant. He was transported to CPD and booked, provided a chemical sample, and was held for detoxification. He was later released with a citation.

 

Tuesday, August 6

Claremont police spotted Covina resident Miguel Morales, 37, on the Super King Market loading dock, 436 Auto Center Dr., at 1:02 a.m. and questioned him. A search allegedly yielded a meth pipe and 13 counterfeit $100 bills. He was arrested for possession of unlawful paraphernalia and possession of a counterfeit item, both misdemeanors, transported to CPD, booked, and held for court. He was released August 7 in front of an August 8 Pomona Superior Court date.
