Friday, August 16

 

  • Benefit the Friends of the Claremont Library by purchasing a half priced book or other item through August at Claremont Helen Renwick Library, 208 N. Harvard Ave. Library hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

 

  • Pomona’s Office of Violence Prevention and Neighborhood Well-Being hosts a free and open to the public 4 to 6 p.m. Friday night lights event at Ganesha Park, 1575 N. White Ave.

 

  • Guests 50 and over are invited to a 5 to 8 p.m. luau at Ontario Town Square, 224 N. Euclid Ave. Admission is $8 for Ontario residents, $10 for non-residents. Visit ontarioca.gov/specialevents for more info.

Saturday, August 17

  • This month’s 8 to 10 a.m. Claremont cars and coffee event at Last Name Brewing, 2120 Porterfield Way, Upland, is free and open to the public. All vehicles are welcome.

 

  • A free and public cars and coffee event takes place from 8 to 10 a.m. at 121 N. San Dimas Ave., San Dimas. Register cars at sandimasca.gov or by calling (909) 394-6230.

 

  • The weekly free and open to the public Pomona Valley certified farmers’ market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the northwest corner of Pearl Street and Garey Avenue. More info is at sustainableclaremont.org.

 

  • The American Museum of Ceramic Art, 399 N. Garey Ave, Pomona, opens its newest exhibit, “Architectural Pottery: Ceramics for a Modern Landscape,” at 11 a.m. Admission is $14 for adults, seniors are $9, and students and Pomona residents $7.   • Today is the deadline for current high school students to apply for the American Museum of Ceramic Art’s teen council program for the 2024-25 school year.   • The California Pinners Conference, a two-day event highlighting the creatives of Pinterest with over 100 classes and 200 vendors, returns to expo hall four at Fairplex, 1101 W.   • Claremont Lewis Museum of Art, 200 W. First St., Claremont, hosts “Free 4 All,” a free and open to the public 4 to 9 p.m. pop-up art show. Exhibitors must bring one ready-to-hang work to CLMA between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, August 23 to take part in the show. Art must be family friendly. No pedestal or floor displays will be accepted.   • Seffarine performs at 7:30 p.m. performance at Ophelia’s Jump Music Lounge, 2009 Porterfield Way, Suite H, Upland. The group “embraces and extends Morocco’s musical collision between Arabic, Iberian and West African cultures, forging vibrant original music deeply rooted in their backgrounds in flamenco guitar, oud and Arab Andalusian music,” according to a press release.
