‘Strut’ over to AMOCA
“Strut,” an exhibition of photographs and new ceramics by Christina West, runs from Saturday, September 7 through January 26, 2025 at the American Museum of Ceramic Art, 399 N. Garey Ave., Pomona. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday,
The exhibit is meant to “complicate tropes of masculinity common to representations of the male body,” according to the exhibit description. “West’s work counters centuries of images of men (created by men) that depict the male body as a caricatured representation of power, strength, and heroism, instead blending beauty and strength with vulnerability and awkwardness to convey the complexity of embodied experience.”
A free 4 to 6 p.m. opening reception is set for Saturday, September 7, at AMOCA. RSVP at amoca.org/events.
