Police Blotter: November 22, 2024

Wednesday, November 13

At 2 a.m., Claremont Police Department officers responded to Knight Claremont Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 620 Auto Center Dr., after a security guard called to report someone was inside a car on the lot. When police arrived, the man allegedly took off running. Officers soon caught up with 18-year-old Pomona resident Avery Hamilton and arrested him for trespassing and resisting or delaying an officer, both misdemeanors. He was then transported to CPD where he was booked and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.

 

Thursday, November 14

Police questioned a suspect at 3:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a man walking in traffic lanes near College Avenue and Arrow Highway. A records check revealed the 30-year-old unhoused man had a misdemeanor warrant out of Los Angeles County. He was arrested, booked at CPD, and released with a citation to appear in court.

Police stopped Carlos Gonzalez Ramirez, 35, of Pomona, for vehicle code violations at 10:30 p.m. near Bonita and Mountain avenues. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and taken to CPD for booking. After detoxification, Gonzalez Ramirez was released with a citation.

 

Friday, November 15

Police stopped 20-year-old San Bernardino resident William Hernandez for a vehicle code violation at 2:45 a.m. near Arrow Highway and Mills Avenue. Hernandez did not provide a driver’s license and displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol, police said. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for DUI while under 21 and driving without a license, both misdemeanors. A records check also revealed a misdemeanor San Bernardino County warrant. Hernandez was booked at the CPD jail, where after detoxing he was released with citations.

Claremont Colleges Campus Safety officers recognized a man who had been barred from the campuses and called CPD to the 100 block of E. Sixth Street about 11:30 p.m. A records check showed the 49-year-old unhoused man had a Los Angeles County misdemeanor warrant, and CPD officers arrested him for misdemeanor trespassing and the warrant. He was subsequently transported to CPD, where he was booked and released with a citation.

 

Saturday, November 16

Police stopped Upland resident Clarissa Cruz, 22, near Indian Hill Boulevard and Baughman Avenue at 2:30 a.m. for vehicle code violations. After field sobriety tests, Cruz was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, transported to CPD, booked, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation.

Police responded to a 10:30 p.m. call from Motel 6, 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd., regarding a family disturbance. Arriving officers found a woman and a child in a motel room. The woman told police a 35-year-old Montclair man who she had been with had strangled and threatened her before fleeing the scene. Police later found the man walking near College and San Jose avenues and arrested him for attempted murder, domestic violence, criminal threats, and child endangerment, all felonies. He was taken to CPD, booked, and held for court. He appeared at Pomona Superior Court on November 19 and was released on bond later that day.
