Some Claremonters were alarmed recently when Southern California pizza chain Baby Bros used a photo of the Verbal Building — home for 45 years to Pizza N’ Such — on its website, with “Claremont location coming soon” as the headline. Some took it to mean it would be going in at the 202 Yale Ave. location.

Not true, says Pizza N’ Such co-owner Laura Verbal.

“They sure got the rumor mill going!” Verbal wrote in an email. “We also recently changed from an INC to an LLC, and we had to change the alcohol license with a poster that said, ‘change of ownership,’ which really fueled the fire!”

Verbal said she’s had two or three customers reach out to offer their remembrances of the restaurant over the last few months.

“I keep assuring people we are not going anywhere, but I can’t seem the squash the rumor,” she said. “But just to be clear if you hear anything: Pizza N’ Such is sticking around!”
