Police Blotter: January 24, 2025

Monday, January 13

Claremont Police Department officers spoke with a 30-year-old unhoused man at a.m./p.m. market, 701 E. Foothill Blvd., at 1:19 p.m. after a call about a suspicious vehicle. A subsequent search allegedly revealed a methamphetamine pipe, leading to his arrest for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the Claremont jail and later released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.

 

Tuesday, January 14

After noticing a car moving erratically at 1:56 a.m. near Base Line Road and Indian Hill Boulevard, police pulled over 42-year-old Los Angeles resident John Torre. Police say he displayed symptoms of impairment during questioning, and they saw what they suspected to be methamphetamine in the car’s center console. A search of Torre’s car allegedly turned up a meth pipe. After sobriety tests he was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, and DUI, all misdemeanors. He was then booked at CPD, held for detoxification, and released with a citation.

 

Wednesday, January 15

Police received multiple 2:51 p.m. calls regarding a man causing a disturbance at The Back Abbey, 128 N. Oberlin Ave. Arriving officers spoke with witnesses, who said David Lucero, 40, of San Jacinto, had verbally threatened a person at the restaurant. Lucero was arrested for felony criminal threats and transported to CPD, where police allege he battered a CPD employee, leading to an additional charge of misdemeanor battery on a peace officer. After booking he was released for medical reasons.

 

Friday, January 17

Police responded to a two-car collision near the 10 Freeway and Indian Hill Boulevard on-ramp at 12:09 p.m. While one person involved was being treated for injuries, police questioned another, Ontario resident Sergio Gudino, 30. After sobriety tests Gudino was arrested for felony DUI. A records check showed he was on probation for a previous DUI, adding misdemeanor DUI while on probation to his charges. He was booked at CPD, held for detox, and later released with a citation.

 

Saturday, January 18

Police stopped Napoleon Lustre, 59, of West Covina, at 2:07 a.m. for a moving violation near Indian Hill Boulevard and San Jose Avenue. Following field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, booked at the Claremont jail, held for detox, and released with a citation.

Police were called to the 1400 block of N. Claremont Boulevard at 9:40 p.m., where they spoke with a couple, with one allegedly showing visible injuries. Officers said the other, a 29-year-old Oakland woman, was determined to be the aggressor, and she was arrested for felony domestic violence. She was transported to CPD, booked, and held until a January 22 Pomona Superior Court appearance.

 

Sunday, January 19

Police were summoned to the 800 block of South Indian Hill Boulevard at 1:50 p.m. on a domestic violence call. One person had visible injuries and said they had been threatened by a 24-year-old Ontario man, who was later found nearby and arrested for domestic violence and criminal threats, both felonies. He was booked at CPD and held in front of a January 22 appearance at Pomona Superior Court.

Monday, January 20

After a 4 p.m. call about two people causing a disturbance in the 600 block of E. Foothill Boulevard, arriving officers ran a records check on a 45-year-old unhoused man, revealing he was in violation of a court order to stay away from another person at the scene. He was arrested for the misdemeanor violation, booked at CPD, and released due to a medical issue.
