Cal Poly Pomona President Soraya Coley, 74, will step down as president and retire from the California State University system at the end of July.

Coley became CPP’s first woman and first Black president in 2015. “Her tenure has been marked by investments in student success, campus facilities, academic advising, programs to increase belonging and promote thriving, essential services and other resources,” according to a press release. Coley also helped establish the CPP’s Philanthropic Board and the “Bridge to Success Partnership” that helps students from neighboring Mount San Antonio College transfer to the school.
