Jean Ullrich Moore: mother grandmother, volunteer, administrator
Jean Ullrich Moore died peacefully on January 24, 2025, at the age of 96. She was a mother, grandmother, volunteer, administrator, and longtime resident of Pilgrim Place in Claremont, CA. Her roots were in Waco, Texas, where she was born and lived her early life. During those years, she was involved in the church and in band and choir. She then attended and graduated from Baylor University in Waco.
Jean moved to Claremont in 1961, where she volunteered at Condit Elementary School, followed by work in office administration at Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare. She then worked many years at the University of LaVerne, where she served in multiple roles, especially as Director of Student Employment. In 1989, the University honored her as Grand Marshal of the Homecoming Parade. In 1995, Jean retired to Pilgrim Place, where she dedicated her time to a variety of activities, especially coordinating volunteers for the Health Services Center.
In retirement, Jean loved spending time with her three daughters – Glenda Kittinger, Nan Fox, and Joyce Cable – and she delighted in her grandchildren – Jason Kittinger, Michael Kittinger, Steven Kittinger, Chris Fox, Jenny Fox Applegate, Curtis Cable, and Kevin Cable. She also had the joy of 16 great grandchildren.
