Larry L. Schiller: Veteran, volunteer, dog lover
Larry L. Schiller died suddenly at home on March 9 after a long battle with cancer.
Larry was born in Craig, Colorado on November 29, 1938. He was a resident of Claremont for 48 years, and was a letter carrier in Pomona for 30 years.
Larry was a veteran, he was active with the Pomona Jaycees, Chino Jaycees, the National Hot Rod Association, American Legion, his RV group, and many other organizations throughout the years. He loved rescuing dogs, and adopted many through dog rescue organizations.
“He was a friend to all he met,” his family shared. “He loved to talk with people and was always ready to help. He looked forward for the next adventure.”
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Laurie; sister, Gloria; stepson Jim Warren; grandson Tyler; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be buried at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518, at 9:45 a.m. Friday, April 4. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12 at the Center for Spiritual Living, 509 S. College Ave., Claremont, CA 91711.
