Publisher’s note on Courier paywall update
The Claremont Courier will begin implementing a soft paywall for select premium stories available exclusively to subscribers on our claremont-courier.com website. Each week, five to six articles will require readers to log in to their subscriber account for access. You only need to login once and you are good to go. If you haven’t created an account yet — or if your old one needs updating — it’s quick and easy to do so. If you are not a subscriber, you will need to purchase a subscription. A prompt will appear for these premium stories.
This change comes in response to a decline in online-only subscriptions over the past two years, even as overall website traffic has grown. As a nonprofit news organization, the Courier relies heavily on subscription revenue to support our dedicated and talented staff.
A subscription costs just over $8 per month with an annual plan—an investment that helps sustain the Courier, which has proudly served the Claremont community since 1908. This change will not affect newspaper subscribers, who already have access to the website, though you may be prompted to set up an online login.
We appreciate your continued support. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me directly at: pweinberger@claremont-courier.com.
Thank you,
Peter Weinberger
