Police Blotter: May 2, 2025

Tuesday, April 22

Claremont Police Department officers pulled over a 32-year-old Pomona man at 1:10 a.m. at Shell gas station, 1091 W. Foothill Blvd. for moving violations. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation.

Police responded to Vons, 550 E. Base Line Rd., at 8:35 a.m. following reports of a person walking in the middle of the street. Officers questioned a 29-year-old Ontario man, and a records check revealed he had two misdemeanor Los Angeles County warrants. As police attempted to arrest the man he allegedly punched an officer in the face. More police then arrived to subdue the man, who allegedly continued to punch at officers. He was eventually subdued and arrested for the warrants, and for additional charges of resisting, delaying or obstructing peace officers, and battery on a police officer, both misdemeanors. He was taken to the Claremont jail and booked before San Gabriel PD arrived to take custody of him for one of the warrants. He was transferred to Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles on April 23 and appeared at LA County Superior Court on April 30.

Wednesday, April 23

Claremont police stopped a 25-year-old Montclair woman for moving violations at 2:36 a.m. in the Trader Joe’s parking lot, 475 W. Foothill Blvd. After field sobriety tests she was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. A records check of the 26-year-old male passenger from Pomona showed a misdemeanor LA County warrant, leading to his arrest. Both were transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detox, and released with citations.

At 6:20 p.m., CPD officers responded to the 1500 block of Benedict Avenue after a resident reported someone entering a neighbor’s backyard. Arriving officers questioned a 41-year-old homeless man, and after neighbors confirmed he was the person who had been looking through their window, he was arrested for misdemeanor peeking while loitering. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and later released him with a citation.

Thursday, April 24

Police responded to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 555 W. Foothill Blvd., at 4:12 p.m. after a 33-year-old Montclair man called to report someone had brandished a firearm. Arriving officers spoke with the caller, who they said appeared to be under the influence. After an investigation it was determined the call was a hoax, and after a records check showed a misdemeanor San Bernardino County warrant, he was arrested and transported to the Claremont jail. There, a search allegedly turned up fentanyl, adding misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance to his charges. He was booked and later released with a citation.

Friday, April 25

Claremont police were called to a family disturbance in the 500 block of W. San Jose Avenue at 11:27 a.m. Officers spoke with witnesses and determined a 33-year-old Claremont man had allegedly pushed a woman in the home with children present. He was then arrested for misdemeanor battery and child abuse. A records check then revealed he had violated his probation, adding a felony parole violation to his charge list. The man was taken to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. He was transported to the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic on April 30 and was due to appear May 1 at LA Municipal Court.

 

Saturday, April 26

Police stopped a 20-year-old Rancho Cucamonga woman at 3:02 a.m. for moving violations at Claremont and Foothill boulevards. Police say she did not have a license, and after field sobriety tests she was arrested for driving without a license and DUI by a minor, both misdemeanors. She was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detox, and later released with a citation.
