Claremont Lewis Museum of Art’s “Complications in Color,” celebrating the 100th birthday of the late Karl Benjamin, opens with a free and open to the public reception at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 2 during the Claremont Art Walk. The show will be up through November 16 at CLMA, 200 W. First St.

The exhibit also features works by Rachel Lachowicz, chair of Claremont Graduate University’s art department, and the late Florence Arnold, June Harwood, and Terry O’Shea, as well as Benjamin, a pioneer of the hard-edge abstraction movement.

The museum is open noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays, noon to 7 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $5 for adults. Children under 18, students, and museum members are free.

The Claremont Lewis Museum of Art and CGU are also teaming up for another Benjamin show, “It’s All About the Benjamins” August 2-23 at the school’s East and Peggy Phelps Galleries, 251 E. 10th St., Claremont, featuring paintings from Benjamin’s estate and the university’s archive. Admission is free 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
