Police Blotter: August 1, 2025

Tuesday, July 22

Claremont Police Department officers responded to a reports from Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd., that a suspicious man was following a person and slurring his words. Arriving officers spoke with a 42-year-old Long Beach man and a records check revealed a misdemeanor San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department warrant. Police arrested him for the warrant and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.

Wednesday, July 23

Claremont police questioned a man after allegedly spotting him dancing in the southbound lanes of Indian Hill Boulevard at 12:25 p.m. near the former Hibbard Auto Center while holding an open container of alcohol. After a records check they learned the 20-year-old Los Angeles man had provided a fake name. Police then determined he was too impaired to care for himself, and arrested him for providing false ID to a peace officer, minor in possession of alcohol, and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors. He was transported to CPD, booked, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation.

 

Thursday, July 24

CPD responded to a 9:49 a.m. call about a suspicious person at a business at 915 W. Foothill Blvd. Police questioned a San Pedro man, 32, and a records check showed he was on parole, leading police to search his belongings. During the search, officers allegedly found a controlled substance and a narcotics pipe. He was arrested for felony parole violation, and for possession of a controlled substance and possession of unlawful paraphernalia, misdemeanors. He was transported to CPD and booked before being transported to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. He was released July 28.

 

Saturday, July 26

Officers stopped a car for moving violations at 2:48 a.m. on the 700 block of E. Foothill Boulevard and questioned the driver, a 19-year-old Fontana man. After field sobriety tests, police arrested the man for driving under the influence and for underage DUI, misdemeanors. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.

A man called Claremont police at 6:30 a.m. to report a Highland woman, 30, was trespassing in his home on the 600 block of Marion Drive. The woman then allegedly drove away with the man’s car, setting off an hourslong chase that also involved the Irwindale Police Department and California Highway Patrol. The chase ended about 3 p.m. near East Pumalo Street and Sterling Avenue in San Bernardino when the woman was stopped by San Bernardino PD. Claremont police then arrested her for burglary, driving or taking a vehicle without owner’s consent, and for reckless evading of a peace officer, all felonies. A records check also showed a felony San Bernardino County warrant, which was added to her charge list. She was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. She was arraigned at Pomona Superior Court July 29, but no plea was recorded. She’s due at Los Angeles County Superior Court August 12 for a 1368 PC competency hearing to determine if she can stand trial.

Police were called to diffuse a situation on the 400 block of Auto Center Drive at 1:29 p.m. after receiving reports that a man had purchased nitrous oxide from a nearby business, returned to his car, then struck a parked vehicle as he was moving his car to another spot. The owner of the second vehicle reported attempting to speak with the man about the accident before being threatened. The man then left the scene, and the person whose car had been struck called police.  Claremont officers then stopped the 27-year-old Upland man, and after field sobriety tests he was arrested for felony criminal threats, and possession of nitrous oxide, hit and run, DUI, and driving on a suspended license, all misdemeanors. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. He was released July 29.

 

Sunday, July 27

At 7:41 a.m., police responded to Starbucks, 810 S. Indian Hill Blvd., on reports of an unconscious man nearby. Police recognized the 43-year-old Pomona man from previous contacts and allegedly found methamphetamine and a pipe near him. A search allegedly turned up more illegal drugs, and he was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and one of possession of unlawful paraphernalia. He was transported to jail, booked, held for detox, and later released with a citation.

Police were called to Unleashed by Petco, 905 W. Foothill Blvd., to assist Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel with aiding a child who was bitten by a dog at 10:40 p.m. Police spoke with the dog’s owner, a 39-year-old woman from Washington City, Utah, who was also the child’s mother, and said she displayed symptoms of impairment. Police then learned that the mother, dog, and two children were living in a car. The injured child was taken to a nearby hospital. The woman was arrested for child endangerment and being under the influence of a controlled substance, misdemeanors, transported to CPD, booked and held for court. She was released July 29 and is due back at Pomona Superior Court October 21. A family member took custody of the children. Inland Valley Humane Society impounded the dog.
