Paul Ghaffari and Evelyn Nussenbaum began four-year terms as members of the college’s board of trustees last month.
Ghaffari, a 1980 Pomona graduate, is the founder and chief investment officer of Pursuit Funds, an investment company specializing in asset-based credit, and an “active early-stage investor” in CultureTech, “a [software as a service] enterprise that provides services for arts and culture institutions.” Ghaffari previously helped found Wingspan Capital investment service.
Nussenbaum, a health advocate and former journalist, is a member of the board of directors of journalism nonprofit Cityside Journalism Initiative. According to a Pomona College press release, after the successful trial of a cannabis-based drug with GW Pharmaceuticals that aided her epileptic son, Nussenbaum began pushing for change, which in 2018 led to the USDA’s approval of the cannabis-derived pharmaceutical Epidiolex. Pomona College named Nussenbaum the recipient of its 2024 Blaisdell Distinguished Alumni Award.
