Obituary: Beverly June Bicker

Mother, homemaker, was married 72 years

Beverly June Bicker died on July 12 at the age of 90.

She was born the youngest of four children to Harold and Bertha Wessel on June 8, 1935 in Los Angeles. The family moved to Pasadena when she was 10.

The Wessel family and the Bickers had attended the same church in Los Angeles and visited each other frequently, even after the move to Pasadena. Beverly had known Robert Bicker her entire life, as he was five years older than her. They started dating when she was just 15 and were married right after she turned 16. They started their family 18 months later when she was just 17 years old. Their three children, Daniel, Cheryl and Michael were the center of her life.

The family moved to Claremont in 1958 and lived in the same house for the next 65 years, until Bob’s death in 2023. She moved to Moscow, Idaho late in 2023 to live with her daughter Cheryl.

“Beverly raised her family with unconditional love, putting her husband and children first in everything she ever did,” her family shared. “She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Claremont for 60 years. Her love for her family was only surpassed by her love for her lord and savior Jesus Christ.”

She enjoyed working for Claremont Unified School District in several different capacities as a paraeducator, a nurse’s aide, and secretary for more than 20 years.

She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Robert, in 2023, and her son Daniel in 2007.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 21 at Oak Park Cemetery, 410 Sycamore Ave., Claremont, CA 91711.
