Police Blotter: October 17, 2025

Monday, October 6
Claremont Police Department officers pulled over two cars near Foothill Boulevard and Dartmouth Avenue at 7:46 a.m. after receiving calls about a hit and run. One driver told police they had been pursuing the other vehicle after seeing it hit their car. After field sobriety tests the other driver, a 59-year-old Upland woman, was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Police responded to a collision at Bonita and Berkeley avenues at 2:59 p.m. One motorist complained of pain. After field sobriety tests, the other driver, a 38-year-old Montclair man, was arrested for felony DUI causing injury, transported to CPD, booked, provided a chemical sample, and was held for detox before being released with a citation.
Tuesday, October 7
Police responded to a 9:18 a.m. call about a person refusing to leave the restroom at Claremont United Church of Christ’s preschool at 233 Harrison Ave. Arriving officers spoke with the Pomona man, 60, and a records check showed he was on parole, prompting a search which allegedly turned up cocaine and a narcotics pipe. He was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and unlawful paraphernalia, and being a drug offender on school grounds. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released with a citation.
Wednesday, October 8
Police stopped a car for moving violations near Towne and Harrison avenues at 11:04 a.m. A records check of the driver, a 49-year-old Duarte man, showed previous DUI convictions. Officers said the vehicle’s registration was expired and the car did not have the required ignition interlock device, a court ordered accessory that requires a breath sample before the ignition system is engaged. A search of the car allegedly turned up a handgun that was not registered to the man, a pair of brass knuckles, and a fake driver’s license. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for felony DUI with priors, forgery, possession of brass knuckles, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, and misdemeanor driving without a functioning interlock device and unlawful vehicle registration. He was booked at CPD, held for detox and court, and released on bond October 14. He’s due back in court November 3.
Thursday, October 9
Police were called to Yocrepe, 328 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 6:09 p.m. regarding a person loitering. Arriving officers arrested the 24-year-old Pomona man for misdemeanor being under influence of controlled substance. He was transported to CPD, where he was booked and where a records check showed a felony San Bernardino County warrant. He was then transferred to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, with bail set at $60,000, and held in front of an October 20 appearance at Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court.
Police responded to Stater Bros., 1055 W. Foothill Blvd., at 8:47 p.m. after a report of someone stealing two bottles of alcohol and fleeing. Arriving officers searched the area but could not find the suspect. They then interviewed employees, viewed store footage, and later identified the suspect, who is known to CPD. The investigation is ongoing.
Saturday, October 11
Officers stopped a car for moving violations at Los Flores Street and Collingswood Drive in Pomona at 5:47 p.m. and spoke with the driver, a 26-year-old San Bernardino man. After field sobriety tests, the man was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. A search of his car allegedly turned up an unregistered handgun with an illegal magazine, adding misdemeanor carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle and possession of large capacity magazine to his charge list. He was then transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. He was released October 14 and is due back at Pomona court on December 5.
