The California Board of Registered Nursing recently approved Citrus College’s request to increase student enrollment in its associate degree in nursing program from 30 to 120 students, starting in spring 2026. Those looking to apply for the program can do so by 3 p.m. Friday, October 17 at citruscollege.edu/academics/programs.
The college has been pushing to expand its enrollment in response to increased student demand and a shortage of medical professionals in the region. Despite wide interest, class sizes have limited Citrus College’s ability to train new nurses.
“Due to space limitations, we have had to turn away 90% of our qualified applicants,” Salima Allahbachayo, director of health sciences at Citrus College, wrote in a statement. “Expanding the program creates opportunities for more aspiring nurses to enter the field, while also helping our region by graduating a greater number of highly prepared professionals. This is truly a proud moment for Citrus College, our students and the broader community.”
