Despite a loaded agenda, the October 23 Claremont Unified School District Board of Education meeting moved briskly.

The board:

• Heard school plans for student achievement reports from Claremont and San Antonio high schools

• Recognized CHS senior Taara Reddy who was recently named a Congressional Award Gold Medalist.

• Heard the district’s annual assessment and accountability report from Julie Olesniewicz, assistant superintendent of educational services, who said the district’s scores grew in English and language arts and mathematics. Olesniewicz also delivered a California school dashboard priority 1 local indicator update.

• Unanimously approved Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Desiree Reyes as a representative for state allocation board programs.

• Unanimously approved Gloria Clark and Fabiola Palacios as East San Gabriel Valley Special Education Local Plan Area Community advisory committee representatives, and Katie Wheatley as an alternate.

• Unanimously approved resolution 05-2026 to authorize the continued funding application for the district’s current California State Preschool Program contract through 2026-27.

• Unanimously approved the consent calendar.

The next CUSD Board of Education meeting is at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 20 at 170 W. San Jose Ave., Claremont.
