Dear editor:
I deliver regularly to a food bank with a Claremont drop-off spot. Thank you newcomers and old hands who have been helping any of our area food banks. I hear that numbers of non-housed and housed recipients have gone up at all the Inland Valley Hope Partners food banks that I have dealt with. I’ll bet the story is the same for any church or other food banks that are nearby. I’ve also heard that “corporate” supplies have fallen greatly for the wonderful, eye-catching Friday famous Newlife Church that crowds Foothill Boulevard between Garey and Towne avenues those mornings when they serve drive-ups.
I don’t know what any of these locations receive from government or corporate entities or local supermarkets, though I’ve read articles in the past. I know what I go bargain-hunting for. And when I ask or see where the holes are in their supply rooms, it’s no secret. Employees and volunteers are there for the need. When I finally asked specifics of personnel, I had a goal. And it is so easy to share. When I dropped off this morning, there was another lady with a bag to give.
I know this is a difficult time for many. It’s easy to just ask. Thank you, givers.
