Obituary: Linda Jane Arnold

Grandmother, long-time Chaffey school district employee, animal lover

Linda Jane Arnold died peacefully on January 31 after a long battle with complications from diabetes.

“Linda was a constant source of warmth and light and touched so many lives,” her family shared. “She was also a devoted animal lover and will be deeply missed, but never be forgotten.”

Linda was born in Ontario on November 16, 1951 to Kenneth and Weslene Axtell. She graduated from Chaffey High School in 1969 and attended Chaffey College.

On February 7, 1970 she married the love of her life, John Arnold. They made their home in Chino.

She worked for Chaffey Joint Union High School District for more than 30 years. The couple spent their retirement years between their cottage on Mullett Lake near Indian River, Michigan, and their home in Claremont.

She is survived by her mother, Weslene Axtell; husband, John Arnold; daughter, Jolinda (Kiley) Grunstad; granddaughters Jennie (Tyler) Shimkus, Katelynn Grunstad, and Madison Grunstad; and her sister, Alice Koster.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Axtell and her brother Kenneth Axtell Jr.

There will be no service. Her ashes will be spread at sea.

Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org, or to the humane society of your choice.
