Bridges to host gubernatorial debate

Bridges Auditorium, 450 N. College Way, Claremont, will host a 90-minute California gubernatorial debate at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28.

The debate will be broadcast on CBS stations throughout the state. Pomona College assistant professor of politics Sara Sadhwani and representatives from CBS News will moderate.

“This is an incredible opportunity for students to see their college at the center of dialogue — not just for Southern California, but for the entire state,” Sadhwani said in a news release. “To see and engage with candidates firsthand is a rarity, especially in a state as large as California.”

Students will aid in production of the event and have the opportunity to submit questions.

“This is a great opportunity for people to engage in politics to become better citizens,” said Pomona student body president Grace Zheng in the release.

Seating is limited. The Associated Students of Pomona College and the Pomona College chapter of the League of Women Voters will host a watch party at Frary Dining Hall, 347 E. Sixth St., Claremont.
