Be alert when driving, first day of school starts Wednesday

With the start of the school year, there is an increased level of police officers in and around our local schools to keep students, staff, parents and the motoring public safer. These high visibility patrols are an ongoing directed enforcement effort and a reminder to drivers to slow down and pay attention around school zones and to follow the law.

Parents and students should give themselves plenty of time to arrive at school and make safe drop offs. Remember, white zones are for loading and unloading only and not for parking. Red zones are “No Stopping”, even for a quick drop off. If you are not dropping off or picking up students, you may want to find an alternate route or leave before or after regular school start times.

Please drive safely around our schools and throughout the community. Help the Claremont Police Department keep our community safe for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.
