The air still smells of smoke around Mt. Baldy Village, but the air was clear and weather cooler over the weekend. Fire crews remain perched along Baldy Road, while helicopters could be heard overhead. It’s also clear Bridge Fire conditions to the east — Baldy area — are far better than the west, including Wrightwood. Cleanup continues locally in the village, including replacing damaged power lines. Baldy Road remains closed to the public with a checkpoint at Shinn Road.

As of Sunday afternoon, over 54,567 acres have burned with 9% contained. The Baldy area remains in an evacuation warning. The Courier will continue to publish updates as news develops.
