Claremont Fourth festivities updates

Despite recent water restrictions and changes to the upcoming event to accommodate staffing, the City of Claremont is pleased to announce the return of the annual 4th of July celebration.

The festivities will begin next Saturday, July 2, with the Claremont Village Freedom 5000 Run/Walk. In the past, the run has been held on the holiday, but will now take place the Saturday before the 4th of July. The run is co-hosted by the city and the Claremont High School Cross Country Team Boosters and features a 1K kids fun run, a 5K run, and a 5K walk. The kids 1K will begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by the 5K run at 8 a.m. and the 5K walk/competitive race walk at 8:05 a.m. Pre-registration for the run is open until June 30.

Festivities will continue on Monday, July Fourth, with the return of the Claremont Kiwanis Club pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at Memorial Park. At 9 a.m. there will be a flag raising ceremony that includes presentations for the grand marshal, honored citizen, honored community group, community heroes, and rising star honorees. Then at 10 a.m., information booths, kids activities, live music, and food vendors will open and be available until 2 p.m. The T. Willard Hunter Speakers Corner will run from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The annual parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park and travel south on Indian Hill, west on Harrison and end at Larkin Park.

Beginning at 5 p.m., the Claremont Kiwanis Club will serve up BBQ items for all to enjoy.

In the evening, the community is invited to a free concert by The Ravelers at Memorial Park starting at 6 p.m. The band will perform until 8 p.m.
