Claremont Lewis Museum of Art kicks off “She Opens the Door: Women Artists and Writers Shape Language and Space,” with a free and public reception Saturday, December 6, during the 6 to 9 p.m. Claremont Art Walk at 200 W. First St.

The exhibit, curated by the museum’s poet-in-residence Chloe Martinez, will be on view through March 22, 2026. The museum is open noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays, noon to 7 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. General admission is $5. Children under 18, students, and museum members are free.

The installation, made possible by a grant from Pasadena Art Alliance, “will showcase contemporary women artists from Claremont and the greater Los Angeles area whose work encourages us to think about gender, community, and agency,” according to a news release. Featured artists and writers include Lisa Anne Auerbach, Adrian Culverson, Kari Gatzke, Amy Maloof, Elana Mann, Genevieve Kaplan, Chloe Martinez, Prageeta Sharma, Vickie Vertiz, and others.
