District 5 celebrates block party 25 years in the making

Over 25 years ago, Claremont resident Betsy MacLaren started an annual block party within the city’s 5th District. While starting small, it has now grown within the last two years to include St. Augustine Avenue, St. Bonaventure Avenue, Coe Street, Creighton Circle, Springfield Street and Oak Park Drive (west of College). After a year of hiatus, the block party returned —and Brisa Sifuentes, another organizer, was happy to get neighbors together, organize and play games, have a CERT presentation, welcome a visit from Councilmember Sal Medina and generally enjoy neighborhood camaraderie.
