Election 2024: Schiff, Chu, Harabedian in, Gascón out

U.S. Senate
After 23 years in the House of Representatives, Adam Schiff has been elected to the U.S. Senate. The 64-year-old Democrat won both of his races against political newcomer Steve Garvey — to finish out Laphonza Butler’s term through January 3, 2025, and the full term contest through 2031. With 54% of votes counted, Schiff has 5,601,440 votes, or 57% of those cast, to Garvey’s 4,177,830, 43%.
U.S. House of Representatives 28th District
Democrat Judy Chu has been reelected, defeating April Verlato in the race for the Claremont inclusive 28th District of the U.S. House of Representatives, 144,331 (64%) to 81,755 (36%).
California State Assembly District 41
Democrat John Harabedian defeated Republican Michelle Del Rosario Martinez for California State Assembly District 41, which includes Claremont, Harabedian is in front 58% to 42%, 97,582 (59%) to 69,050 (41%), with 65% of votes counted.
LA County District Attorney
With 61% of votes counted, Nathan Hochman has scored a decisive victory against incumbent LA County District Attorney George Gascón, 1,462,304 (61%) to 921,296 (39%).

- Proposition 3: Passed, 5,847,174 (61% ) to 3,732,957 (39%), with 54% of votes counted.
- Proposition 4: Passed, 5,562,661 (58%) to 4,036,992 (42%), with 53% of votes counted.
- Proposition 5: No leads 5,348,622 (56%), to 4,156,395 (44%), with 54% of votes counted.
- Proposition 6: No leads, 5,137,209 (55%) to 4,222,420 (45%), with 53% of votes counted.
- Proposition 32: No leads, 4,997,247 (52%) to 4,606,841, with 54% of votes counted.
- Proposition 33: Failed, 5,843,260 (62%) to 3,652,300 (39%), with 54% of votes counted.
- Proposition 34: Yes leads, 4,747,196 (51%) to 4,472,837 (49%), with 52% of votes counted.
- Proposition 35: Passed, 6,320,900 (67%) to 3,144,379 (33%), with 53% of votes
counted.
- Proposition 36: Passed, 6,720,556 (70%) to 2,830,518 (30%), with 54% of votes counted.
